Engineering Day

Today, Sycamore Class worked with former Swansfield pupil Alfie, who now works for engineering company Atkins Realis.

Our day was based around climate change and what we could do to help reduce our school's carbon footprint, with the aim being net zero. Firstly, we investigated different types of renewable energy and made wind turbines from recyclable materials. They were then put to the test using a hair dryer. Amazingly, every turbine worked!

We then got into teams to imagine and design a new invention, which could be used to make our school 'greener'. We will be submitting our finished designs into a competition run by Atkins Realis.
