With the end of January upon us, we are hoping that February brings warmer and sunnier weather.
In every blog we reflect on the highlights of the previous week, last week they were: Oak class’s super assembly on Thursday afternoon - the children were brilliant at remembering their words, linking their learning to our 3Cs and performed so confidently. Our Year 6 children enjoyed their visit to the Duchess’s School on Friday morning. They met several members of staff, including their Head of Year for September, and listened well to a number of presentations being given about different career options. Employers included: Newcastle Building Society, HM Revenue & Customs, Bradley Hall and William Hackett.
Things to remember this week are:

Larch Class will be swimming on a Tuesday afternoon along with Sycamore Class. Rowan Class will have PE with our NUF coaches.

The NEU strike is on Wednesday - please refer to the letter sent last week. School is open for Cherry, Apple, Sycamore, Rowan and Larch classes. We have also organised places for children with additional needs, those entitled to free school meals and those of critical workers - these parents have been notified that a school place is available for their children on Wednesday.

Mrs Nicklen will be in school on Monday instead of Wednesday this week. Don't forget to bring your instruments in on Monday morning.

It’s National Storytelling week and we’ll be celebrating at Swansfield throughout the coming days. Please look out on the website for a member of staff reading a story each day this week. Don’t forget to create your own scrapbook - if you haven’t already done so, you can pick up a template from your child’s class teacher. We really look forward to reading these. To celebrate National Storytelling week, here is a musical version of a well-loved story about being your own person. Gerald is our character who reminds us to be courageous in Early Years!

There are a number of children in school currently wearing trainers, please ensure that your child comes to school in black school shoes when it is not their timetabled PE day.
Whole school attendance is still on target at 95% and Beech class are this week’s top attenders with 98.6%.
As always, we had some stand out stars from the last week, they were: Ari Glass, Skye Lowthian, Alice Potts, Lucy Chatterton, Harry Beresford, Dan Bridgens, Tommy Clark and Catherine Molineux - well done to you all .
