Head Teacher's Blog 11.03.24
10th March 2024
I hope that all our mothers and those who care for and nurture our children have enjoyed a restful and enjoyable Mothering Sunday!
Quite a few thanks to pass on in this week’s blog…
We have nearly completed our parental consultations for this session - thank you to staff for all their hard work in preparing the consultation forms and the time they gave to talk with parents and carers. Thanks also to those who came along to engage in conversations about their children’s progress and development. We complete these meetings on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for Larch and Rowan classes.
Thanks to our KS2 choir members who sang so brilliantly to support Ignite’s Big Lunch down at St Michael’s Parish Hall. I think the children enjoyed their outing and I’ve had so many lovely comments from those who listened to the children’s singing, it really did bring a bit of extra joy to what was already a happy gathering!
Thanks to Oak class for sharing a really enjoyable assembly on Thursday. Everyone who came along to watch left with a smile on their face after being taken on a journey through the continents of our world via lots of wonderful books and stories. Great job!
Let’s take a look at the week ahead:
-
It’s British Science week and all children will be engaging in activities. We have a variety of working scientists coming in to inspire our children. Look out on class webpages for pictures and updates. Thanks to Miss Thompson for co-ordinating this event.
-
Teacher led clubs return this week on Monday and Thursday evenings
-
For those taking part in our Year 6 Master Class programme, please note that English is on Monday this week and Maths is on Tuesday, 3-4pm
-
We’re looking forward to Rowan family lunch on Wednesday. If you’ve not already signed up, please can you do so by the end of Monday. Please come to the main entrance for 11.45 where your children will meet you.
-
A small group of Ash class children will be visiting Branton Primary for forest school activities on Wednesday. Letters will be sent out on Monday to those involved.
-
It’s the turn of Year 2 to have Fun With Numbers this week. Parents and family members are encouraged to sign up on the Google form and come along to see our fabulous maths curriculum in action! There will be tea and coffee available with Nick in the hall from 08.45.
-
It’s Larch class assembly on Thursday and we’re really looking forward to welcoming family and friends to join us for this at 14.30. See you then!
- Children are invited to 'wear what they like' for Comic Relief on Friday. Wearing a bit of red is encouraged as is bringing in a joke to share on our Swansfield joke board. Donations (suggested £1 but not compulsory, especially for our families with multiple siblings!) are appreciated and will be sent on to Comic Relief.
-
The office send a polite request for everyone to remember to record school lunch choices on the App. This includes selecting that your child is having a packed lunch. Remembering to do this saves hours of admin time each morning and ensures that lunch service can run smoothly.
-
As a further polite request, please can parents and carers remember to keep children’s hair styles appropriate for school with hair accessories kept simple and in school colours. Thank you!
As always, we have some stars of the week to tell you about. A big well done goes to the following children: Hugo Armstrong, Robin Ghent, Beauden Morris-Watson, Myla Packard, Louis Charlton, Charlotte Goodfellow, Chelsea Fordham-Scott, Amelie Jackson, Sebastien Brown, Evie Brown and Abi Oliver. Mrs Smith couldn’t single anyone out in Oak class and so has selected the whole class following their great assembly!
Our whole school attendance for last week was 94.7% and Plum class are our star attenders with a magnificent 98%.
Something very gentle for our music this week - a beautiful lullaby played on piano and cello. Enjoy two quiet minutes in your week to listen and relax!
