Head Teacher's Blog 12.09.22

11th September 2022

Last week was a momentous one for us all. It began with our children happily returning to school but was quickly overtaken by the sad passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This is an event of such historic significance in all our lives that we will be acknowledging it through assemblies and classroom activities which will focus on celebrating a life well lived. In accordance with DfE guidance the school will close as a mark of respect for the State Funeral on Monday 19 September 2022.  We hope you will find a few quiet minutes out of your busy family week to listen to The Lord Bless You and Keep You by John Rutter.

Our Jubilee Garden was formally handed over to us on Thursday afternoon. It is our fitting tribute and a wonderful lasting memorial to a remarkable lady. If you haven’t had a look yet, please feel free to have a wander around and appreciate its beauty at drop off or pick up time.

We start teacher-led and NUF PE lessons this week. Please can you send your child to school in PE kits when they are scheduled to have a PE lesson (see Autumn PE Arrangements letter for allocated days). Larch and Rowan classes will be swimming on Tuesday.

Roald Dahl Day is on Tuesday 13th September and the children will be making their favourite characters out of potatoes - as mine is the porcupine I think I’ll need lots of cocktail sticks!

Congratulations to our stars of the week who have impressed us this week and made a great start to the new school year. They are Jonny Evans, Lily Arkless, Brooke Wilcox, Joseph Hodson, Danny Phelan, Evelyn Baker, George Rose, Lilly Newson, James Lamb, Sam Castle and Jessie McKie

Bye for now,
