Head Teacher's Blog 28.11.22

27th November 2022

At Swansfield we have always taken great pride in our broad and exciting topic based curriculum which is underpinned by our educational visits. Last week Larch class children

enthusiastically shared their learning about the Egyptians in their class assembly and all of the UKS2 children will have visited the Great North Museum this term to extend their learning about the Egyptians and space. Likewise in Lower Key Stage 2 Maple Class have visited Segedunum and Willow and Chestnut are off there on Friday 2nd December to support their understanding of Roman Life.

We have amazing news on last week’s fund raising. The Friends made an incredible £1296 at their Christmas fair. Thank you to everyone who came along, donated items, bought a raffle ticket or helped out. This money will be spent on experiences and resources to benefit all of our children. However, the Friends are in absolutely desperate need of further volunteers if they are going to continue with their good work. Please look out for an email from them in the coming weeks which will be asking for your help and support if you can.

A magnificent total of £643 was raised for Children in Need, thanks to everyone for their generosity and to Mrs Johnson for organising our events in school.

Please can we remind you that mobile phones are not to be used on our school premises by either parents or children as they jeopardise our safeguarding procedures. If children must bring a mobile to school then it should be switched off and left in their bag.

With the start of December upon us this week, things will begin to get a little bit festive. Our Christmas tree will be up by the end of the week and we’re sure that classrooms will begin to be decorated too. Preparations for our Christmas performances are now underway. Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children will be performing Little Angel Gets her Wings. Our Year 3 and 4 children are performing Christmas Around the World and finally our Year 5 and 6 children will be leading our Christingle service at St Paul’s church. All dates and time for these performances can be found on the school newsletter for this half term.

Our music this week gets us into the mood for Christmas preparations and is a real favourite at Swansfield. Enjoy Tiny Flickering Flame.
