Week 4 - Exploring Whoville

Welcome to week 4 where we entered the wonderful world of Dr Seuss.
At the start of the week we read 'Horton hears a Who'. We played with the elephant puppet and imagined what it would be like to be so small you could live in a flower. We had lots of fun making pom-poms and clovers with wool and discovered that it is possible to weave dandelions together to make amazing headdresses. We finally took the sound pipes out and twirled them around, exploring the noises they make and how fast you have to spin them to change the sounds.
Of course, we watched the England v Australia world cup match and we were super excited when England won. In the afternoon we discussed our own dreams and made dream jars, a good calming activity after all the excitement of the morning.
By then we were ready for another much anticipated Holiday Club tradition - bubble day. It took two days and a lot of fun, to fully expand and explore the properties of the mixture. We discovered if we left it untouched (in this case overnight) it got stronger and produced even more amazing bubbles. Some bubbles were big enough to envelope a whole person!
At the end of the week we read "The Lorax". We did a leaf scavenger hunt and found out how many different kinds of trees we have on the school field. We made our own Truffelo trees and then baked and decorated Lorax cookies.
